Gluten-Free Dining In NYC: Forgetting Cliches at Inday

Back in March I discovered Inday and stopped in for lunch.  Located in Flat Iron, Inday is a casual Indian spot with a gorgeous interior design and  a menu that proves you can eat well without sacrificing flavor or excitement about a dish.

Or, in my case, a bowl.  After skimming over all their options on the menu, I chose the clarifying green glow bowl, a robust and colorful mix of chickpeas, grilled apples and beets, crunchy radishes, shredded carrots and I added falafels as the protein.  Then I decided to top it with their falafel sauce, which had a nice kick to it, and a bit of ranch dressing.  Their lentil chips, although paper thin, were packed with flavor, and the texture of the falafels complemented the rest of the bowl so well.  I'm all about assorted textures and having a nice crunch to my meals.

This is a good spot for vegetarians, vegans, gluten-free foodies, and Celiacs because it's a 100% gluten-free kitchen!  If you're a health guru, you'll love it.  Just go!  Right now.  If you lean more towards the side of "What's that green stuff again?" don't be intimidated.  Grab a friend and brave the delicious and nutritious unknown together.  This spot is well suited for it. Just think of each vegetable as more than the sum of its parts, best experienced altogether.

The moment I sat down in Inday I was able to take in the joyful, earthy atmosphere with plants, tropical decor and an awesome playlist.  The people working there seemed genuinely happy to be there and knowledgeable about the food they were serving.  (You can always taste the difference when there's love put into the food you eat).  This would be the perfect spot for grabbing a pre- or post-workout meal, taking yourself on a solo date with a good book, or hanging out with loved ones.  Hell I felt like I could've picked a cozy little corner, rolled out my yoga mat and loaded up some Yoga With Adriene on my phone and no one would've batted an eyelash...or is it eye?  Oh, the mere memory of lunch at Inday has my mind so zenned out and stomach so full that I've forgotten my cliches!  Point is, you'll feel good when you're here, and that seems to be the intention.
