Hi there!

I'm Jess, the founder and chief gluten-free journalist of u, me, gluten-free.  Hope you enjoy exploring my site! (Warning: serious hunger pangs may ensue!)

The Most Unexpected Place to Buy GF Foods

The Most Unexpected Place to Buy GF Foods

Nowadays in the current food climate that we're in it's easy to assume that everyone already has this invisible starter-pack of knowledge on where to eat and purchase gluten-free food.  Some of us are lucky that, in some geographical locations, this type of knowledge and food is extremely readily available and mainstream.  But, we have to remind ourselves that it's not that way for everyone.

I remember back to 4 years ago when I first developed my gluten allergy and had to approach this lifestyle change.  At the best of times it was tough, and at the worst of times it was anxiety-riddled and intimidating.  You're, at least in my case, coming down off of major brain fog and an array of energy-zapping symptoms and busy trying to re-wire your brain on how to eat, are constantly researching restaurants before you dine out,  figuring out how to strategize your meals and grocery lists, and reminding yourself to check every. single. label.

 It's a lot.

One of my goals with u, me, gluten free! is to share the tips and tricks I've learned along the way.  And that starts right here, with me sharing that one of my favorite places to shop for gluten free snacks is, of all places, not even a grocery store.  It's Home Goods!

Yes that's right, Home Goods.  That same place that you can put on your Joanna Gaines hat and get lost in for days. For those that aren't familiar, it's a chain of stores that is primarily known for it's furniture and home decor.  Most that I've visited in  New Jersey  have at least a few aisles dedicated to kitchenware, and lo and behold, food!  More specifically, really awesome gluten free snacks, health foods, drinks and even gluten free gnocchis, as I discovered during my last visit.

At Home Goods you'll find the same big brands you'd find at major grocery stores, like KIND and Lucy's Cookies, but they're at a discounted price.  Just goes to show that you don't have to break the bank to eat gluten free! (Although if you can walk in and buy just food and not a throw pillow or two like I did, then I admire your will power!)

There are certain brands that have also been completely new discoveries for me like Health Warrior and Laughing Giraffe Organics.

Just goes to show that the best things sometimes pop up in the most unexpected places!

I hope this bit of information helps those who are new to this whole gluten free thang, those who are simply curious and even those that are looking to buy a gift for a gluten free friend.  It's the perfect place to create an entirely personalized gift set for someone.  Think: a cute package of gluten free macaroons, a dish set and card as a nice housewarming gift.

More practical and out-of-the-box tips coming soon.  Until next time, friends!

**Please note, this is not a sponsored post in any way.  (I just genuinely love Home Goods!)
